Simcom Fuel now supports automatic odometer capture through the GPS/GLONASS Odometer Sender (GOS). When integrated with Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI), the system records vehicle odometer readings and fuel consumption without any driver input at the terminal.
Manual odometer entry has always been one of the more error-prone steps in fleet fueling. Drivers misread gauges, mistype values, or skip the step entirely. Automatic capture removes the error source and creates accurate distance and efficiency records across every fill.
GPS/GLONASS Odometer Sender (GOS)
A hardware device installed in the vehicle that measures speed and distance from GPS/GLONASS satellite signals. Distance accumulated between fills is calculated and transmitted to Simcom when the vehicle is identified at the terminal.
Integration with AVI
When the vehicle approaches the terminal and is identified by the AVI reader, the GOS transmits accumulated distance data. Simcom records the odometer reading alongside the transaction without any driver interaction.
No vehicle computer connection required
The GOS works from GPS signals and does not connect to the vehicle's OBD port or computer. Vehicle warranties are preserved. Retrofitting the GOS to existing fleet vehicles does not affect dealer relationships or service contracts.
